Education Mission

Education Mission

A major strategy in fulfilling our conservation mission is to educate and energize the next generation of Georgia's citizens. We do that by bringing young people in contact with our coldwater fisheries and helping them learn their value. Along the way, we have a great deal of fun and encourage all our members to participate in these activities.

Our commitment to education goes beyond our river's edge.

  • Trout in the Classroom – we donate tanks and our expertise in raising fingerling trout to 11 metro Atlanta schools (over 300 students actively participate in raising the fish). Once large enough to survive, the fish are released into the Chattahoochee River by the students with help from our chapter volunteers.
  • Rizzio Clinic – each Spring we sponsor an environmental and flyfishing clinic for boys and girls eager to learn our sport and help maintain our rivers and streams.
  • Women’s Flyfishing Clinic – each Fall we conduct a similar program for women who are interested in learning how to fly fish and keep our environment healthy.
  • Project Healing Waters and Casting for Recovery – we donate funds to each of these worthy flyfishing groups: one helps veterans recover from traumatic war experiences and the other women who are recovering from breast cancer.
