During these uncertain times, you and your family’s safety and health are what matters most. The UCCTU Board of Directors has decided to cancel all UCCTU events in April. We are all in this together, and we hope that we may strengthen our communities, including the fly fishing community, during this time.

Governor Brian Kemp’s shelter in place announcement on Friday, April 3, does not entirely prohibit you from leaving the house, and it doesn’t mean the fishing is banned. The order also does not prevent you from tying flies, catching up on all the fly fishing videos, or shopping online at your local fly shops. Additionally, with the new CDC recommendation regarding the use of cloth face coverings, there is no better time to purchase an original fishing buff to wear while visiting your local grocery store.

Below is an update on some local independent fly shop and business hours of operation, service being provided, and the best way to contact. All of the shops are offering some excellent social distancing discounts, so reach out to them directly or visit their websites online to see all the deals.

UCCTU plans to make a few adjustments to the way we operate this Spring, and we wanted to communicate how you all can stay connected and engaged with the chapter from a safe distance:

Connect with us online – Join our social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram. We are sharing shop updates and online shop deals as they are announced. Send a direct message to UCCTU on Facebook to request to be added to the UCCTU Members Only private group to share fishing intel, recommendations, and stories.
Honor your local fly shop by submitting fish stories and photos to conservation@ucctu.org and president@ucctu.org. Everyone is invited to participate in a new initiative created by the chapter to support our local fly shops by submitting a short story and photo of fish caught using gear purchased from your favorite local shop. The initiative aims to honor independent local fly shops that are committed to serving customers during this time. During April, we will share content through our social media accounts to connect with our existing members, shops, supporters, and potential new Trout Unlimited members. UCCTU’s President, Connor Reynolds, has spoken with Jeff Wright (Alpharetta Outfitters Manager), Gary Merriman (Fish Hawk Owner), Jimmy Harris (Unicoi Outfitters Owner) and River Through Atlanta Owner, Chris Scalley and they are all excited about the initiative and the chapter’s support.
