Topic: White Bass

Speaker: Steve Hudson

Steve is a writer, teacher and lifelong fly fisher, who says he may have the best of all possible jobs – one that lets him share the excitement of the fly fishing with others. An award-winning journalist and illustrator, he has written extensively on fly fishing, fly tying, hiking and travel.

This month, Steve will be speaking with us about fly fishing for white bass. For about six weeks every spring, the white bass run from lakes up into rivers on their annual spawning runs, and that can make for some exceptionally exciting fly fishing! Steve will talk about white bass strategies, flies, locations and more, and you’ll leave with the info you need to enjoy fishing for white bass yourself!

Following the program, Steve has offered to stick around for a little while to show us how to tie his favorite white bass fly – the “Red Nosed Yeti.” It’s a shad imitation that’s exceptionally effective on white bass wherever white bass are found…and we have it on good authority that it’s a great fly for other species (including trout) too!
