LONG CREEK WORKDAY – May 20, 2023

We don’t get the opportunity to do stream improvement work in the Georgia mountains as much as we did in the past due to budget cutbacks at the Georgia DNR and the US Forest Service. This Long Creek Workday will be co-hosted by UCCTU and the Blue Ridge Mountain Chapter. We’ll be repairing in-stream structures that were built decades ago.

Trout Unlimited is a coldwater conservation organization and this project represents our mission. We’ll begin at 9:00 a.m., work until around noon / 1:00 p.m. and then we’ll enjoy lunch. Afterward, explore the area and go fishing. There are many opportunities to fish for mountain trout in the area. If you have never done steam habitat improvement in the mountains, this is a wonderful opportunity to get some experience. Mid-May should allow for prime dry fly fishing. Sign-ups will begin later this spring. Please consider joining us that day.
