Monthly Meeting – June 28th
June 28 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Speaker: Rene Hesse
Topic: What is the back of the fly line box REALLY telling me?
Social at 6 pm – meeting starts at 7 pm at Ippolito’s
What is the back of the fly line box REALLY telling me?
If the box has the name of the type of fish it will catch, that should be all I need to know, or is it?
Knowing how a line is constructed, tapered and its specific applications is key to casting it.
Why is casting a trout line different from casting a bass line, tarpon, bonefish, WF, double taper or shooting head?
Let’s have a discussion. I will talk about a specific line and then compare it to another and we can share thoughts on why certain things need to happen to make them cast the all-important loops.
Why do some lines coil more than others? When is it a good idea not to use a trout line for trout? Is the $45 line as good as the $100? When would we use the wrong line weight for our rod? What is a good all-around line? Do I need a fly line if I euro nymph?
Come with questions, come with ideas, there are a few of the coveted ‘Pink Puffy Practice Fly’ to be given away too!
